Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1990, André Ruiz de Freitas—known as “Decolife”—began painting as a child, using found materials to create and share his art. As a teenager, he experimented with graffiti and developed a signature style blending personal memories with Brazil’s diverse cultural heritage. After moving to Europe, he traveled through several countries, often relying on his artwork to cover basic needs while constantly redefining his approach by visiting museums and absorbing new influences.

His body of work—spanning street murals, abstract canvases, and NFTs—features bold colors, distinct outlines, and mythological motifs, forming a visually rich diary of his life and travels. Over the years, Decolife’s art has been showcased in galleries across São Paulo, Istanbul, Athens, and London, as well as on walls worldwide. His creative journey, shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a deep commitment to exploration, continues to evolve as he draws on both his Brazilian roots and global experiences.

André Decolife’s artworks burst with vibrant colors and layered references, reflecting his journey from Brazil to Europe and the UK. Each unique piece carries echoes of his homeland—lush fruits, tropical foliage, insects, and animals he once loved observing, all breathing a quiet vitality into the canvas. These natural elements blend with the many cultural influences he’s absorbed abroad, forming a visual language that speaks to both memory and adaptation. There’s a gentle nostalgia for what he left behind, balanced against the challenges Latin Americans face when forging a life in new environments.

Influenced by street art’s raw energy and the endless horizons of new technology, Decolife’s work feels both cutting-edge and grounded in tradition. His signature palette—vibrant greens, radiant yellows, and deep blues—instantly reveals his Brazilian roots, allowing viewers to sense the spirit of his homeland in every brushstroke. In these paintings, Brazil’s rich artistic legacy meets the evolving realities of migration and modern life, resulting in art that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
